• In generating electricity, Power Plants emit hazardous substances besides CO2, including mercury, nitrous oxides, sulphur oxides, and particulates. Using LEDs for lighting means using less electricity, and that means less of these substances contaminating our environment and less coming in contact with us.
• LEDs last at least 60x longer than incandescent lights and 10x longer than fluorescent lights, which makes for less waste… and 59 fewer trips to the shop to buy replacement bulbs.
• Unlike incandescent lights, LEDs don’t waste energy as heat, so they won’t add to the amount of electricity you use for air conditioning.

LIFE TIME COSTS. The Table below shows the savings that can be achieved by replacing a 4ft 38 W high energy Fluorescent tubes (FLT) with a 4ft 18 W (QEG) LED tube. This is based on an electricity price of .79 p/kWh. Average saving on energy are 51%. Can be higher if lighting is used only when needed.

 The energy saving in this model is based on purely energy and initial cost of the tubes and not taking in to account the cost savings over the lack of maintenance over the life of the LED T over changing FLT's and maintaining the control gear.
